2011 Safety Innovation Awards

Purpose — The purpose of the Safety Innovations Award is to recognize companies whose products and/or procedures that have or will significantly improve safe practices in the work place, whether its construction segments or other industry environments.

Procedure — To be recognized as a Safety Innovator, a company or representative must submit the following to the Safety Advisory Council by Friday, March 25, 2011 for consideration:

  1. Application Form.
  2. One-page description of product and/or practice.
  3. Supporting documentation including photos and/or charts; CD’s, or any marketing and collateral print materials.

The Safety Advisory Council will select one product or procedure as the 2011 Safety Innovations” award recipient.  Winners will be presented during the Safety Expo, April 19-21 – Cosumnes River College.  The award recipient will receive publicity in the on-site Program Booklet distributed to all attendees, exhibitors, sponsors, and presenters, as well as post-Expo marketing materials and the sacsafetyexpo website.

Criteria for Innovation Selection —

  1. Product/Procedure must be no more than five years old.
  2. How easy is it to use and how easy is it to train people to use it properly.
  3. Does it replace an existing product/practice.
  4. Is it cost prohibitive
  5. is it practical
  6. How broad is its scope and can the whole industry benefit from the versatility of the innovation.
  7. If a product, is it durable.
  8. Does it require other equipment or pieces.
  9. What is the overall impact on health and safety.
