Expo Presenters

Presenters for each year’s Expo come from nearly every facet of safety and management backgrounds. Most often, a presenter is recommended to the Safety Advisory Council because of their professionalism, presentation skills, and expertise in a particular topic. Occasionally a presenter will contact the Council on their own having heard about the Expo, and the attendance it draws. Presenters who have offered topics at prior events are invited to return based on three key criteria:

  1. Presentation skills and ability to communicate to the attendee;
  2. Topic value and relevance including visual and handout materials;
  3. Evaluation(s) based on the attendees who were in previous workshops.

The Safety Advisory Council, after more than seven years of experience, realize that the shorter and clearer the workshop topic title, and definitive and understandable the course description, results in more attendees at the sessions, and a more satisfied audience.  The Council also understands that new approaches to old topics and new topics are always making themselves present.  The 2011 Expo featured several topics focusing the TOP  10 OSHA Violations along with new first-time presenters.  In 2011, the course curriculum expanded beyond the construction trades and focused on securing labor attendance  from general industry segments, as well.

We are proud to partner with the Public Equipment Managers Association (PEMA) for a third consecutive year .  Attendees participating in PEMA sessions are fleet managers, supervisors, mechanics, and parts technicians from public fleets in Northern California along with other professionals in the vehicle and equipment field – this organization has a unique curriculum specific to people in this targeted attendee group and Expo is pleased to have these trainers as an integral part of the Safety Expo presenter component.

We are extremely fortunate to have access to the best trainers and educators.  Each of the more than 80 presenters volunteer their services to the 2011 Expo event and we are looking forward to their expertise for 2012—it is without a doubt that their continued commitment and support of the Expo is the cornerstone of our success.  Returning presenters are invited to submit session topics starting in late September for the 2012 Safety Expo for consideration in next year’s session program as we prepare for the registration marketing and print materials available in the late fall.

If you, or someone you know has interest in presenting a session topic at the 2012 Expo, please contact Jim Neely, Safety Coordinator, 916-442-8991 or jneely@sbxchange.net.
