About
The Safety Expo is an education-focused, stand-alone program presented by the Construction Industry Education Foundation (CIEF) in partnership with the Sacramento Regional Builders Exchange (SBE)* – the Exchange, established in 1901 has developed into one of the largest and most active Builders’ Exchanges in the Western United States and is recognized as one of the leading organizations representing the overall construction industry in Northern California.
James E. Lambert, CAE joined the Sacramento Regional Builders Exchange (SBE) more than twenty-five years ago and currently serves as SBE’s Executive Vice President. Lambert, along with a group of dedicated staff members and a governing board of directors are dedicated to providing services and programs to the membership and the industry at-large. One of those programs is inherently the Safety Expo, which was created more than six years ago. Troubled by the number of worker injuries, Jim Lambert expanded existing SBE safety services by forming a dedicated Safety Advisory Council who was assigned to the new and developing Expo program. In 2005, SBE together with the support and guidance of the Safety Advisory Council introduced the inaugural Pacific Builders Safety Expo in an effort to reach out to the building and construction trades, as a whole, and not just members of SBE. It was the consensus of the organization that this program be utilized as outreach to the construction community and to enhance work force development with a dedicated focus in the areas of safety training, education, and prevention. The original goal was a succinct and distinct message, “the Safety Expo aims to create an injury free workplace in which all workers are sent home safe at night, and further believes that only the proper tools and equipment along with the required safety education can help to accomplish this goal.”
The inaugural Expo was a success and remains the only safety-focused education and trade show program in California. Since the first event in 2005, the Pacific Builders Safety Expo continues to evolve and develop into a respected, professional, and highly regarded industry event now known as the Annual Statewide Safety Training & Construction Management Expo. At its debut, the original program offered two days of workshops and training for an unprecedented pricing structure of $10 with no compromise to value or the quality and dedication of Expo’s instructors and presenters. It has now evolved into a popular three-day annual event offering more than 60 different session topics; workshops; compliance certification; construction management sessions; along with special projects and forums for an unparalleled value in a registration fee of $50 – the one-day trade show is complimentary – the Expo continues its commitment to the industry with no compromise to quality and no sacrifice in value. The numbers in the past five years speak for themselves – since the introduction of the event almost 5,000 attendees have participated. It is the goal and intent that those attendees gained the necessary knowledge and education insight to make them and their work environments safer because of the training that this program offers.
