Speakers

Speakers or presenters for each year’s Expo come from nearly every facet of safety and construction management backgrounds. Most often, a presenter is recommended to the Expo Planning Committee because of their professionalism, presentation skills, and expertise in a particular topic. Occasionally a speaker will contact the committee on their own having heard about the Expo and the attendance it draws. Speakers who have presented topics at prior Expos are invited to return based on three key criteria:

· presentation skills and ability to communicate to the attendee;
· topic value and relevance including visual and handout materials;
· evaluation(s) based on the attendees who were in the workshop.

The 2008 Expo had more than 84 percent of evaluations returned and for 2009 over 90 percent of the attendees completing their evaluations for each workshop they attended were recorded.

The Expo Planning Committee, after five years of experience, realize that the shorter and clearer the workshop topic title, and definitive and understandable the course description, results in more attendees in the seats, and a more satisfied audience. The Committee also understand that new approaches to old topics and new topics are always making themselves present. The 2009 Expo featured twenty new topics and as many new first-time speakers.

If you, or someone you know, has interest in presenting a topic at the 2010 Expo please contact Jim Neely, Safety Coordinator, 916-442-8991 or jneely@sbxchange.net.
