Past Safety Expos
The First 5 Years – A Perspective
The History - The original press release announced, “A new construction and building industry event has sprung up that is providing an opportunity to send employees for safety training.” Since the 2005 inaugural Expo, almost 5,000 people have taken advantage of this opportunity while embracing the concept of safety education and prevention of
workplace injuries – construction employers and employees were, and still are committed to the notion of further education in the support for, and the promotion of safe and healthy working practices, representing not just building and construction, but other industrial trades as well. The initial concept of the proposed “Safety Faire” developed into the Pacific Builders Safety Expo – “Where Safety Training Comes First.”
The Investment - As we look back and reminisce about the five Expo events, it has become very evident and very clear based on feedback from representatives from all segments of the building and construction industry, that this program has become a yearly staple and a must-attend conference for many people, and those same people either come back or continue to send part of their work force to become better informed on safety-related issues, topics and standards; they attend for equipment certification and compliance training, and become further educated in the many facets of the building and construction industry. The Expo has opened many doors for a large group of industry constituents that have found and continue to find enormous benefit by attending this statewide event at an extremely reasonable cost. The event, without a doubt is professional, it has earned respect, garnered a stellar reputation, and by all counts, it is successful! This event has lived up to its original goals, which held true then and continue to hold true now, “the Annual Safety Expo aims to create an injury free workplace in which all workers are sent home safe at days’ end—only the proper tools and equipment along with the required safety education can help to accomplish this goal.”
The Program - The sessions made available at all Expos were never designed to replace or become your company’s entire safety program. The intent was to jumpstart, fill-in, or at least raise awareness of the professional consultants and trainers available year-round to your company.
The Value for the Price - Looking back, there was a tremendous amount of skepticism over the cost to register for the Expo and if there was true value and quality for the price – the response is a resounding yes. After five years of development and growth, and as we continue to evolve, we remain diligent in our core belief to provide the industry with the best most inclusive range of education and compliance topics at the absolute minimum cost.
The Acknowledgements: Sponsors and Supporters - We continue to partner with new and existing vendors, exhibitors and sponsors, all of whom make this event possible. We have been fortunate that through the consistent support of companies like McCarthy Building Companies, Roebbelen Contracting, Unger Construction, the Construction Employers Association and the Golden State Builders Exchanges and their 26 individual exchanges, we can provide the Expo at such an amazing value.
The Supplier Community - Expo exhibitors are a huge and vital component to the overall success of the event, and we would be derelict in not appropriately acknowledging them for their tremendous backing and support. Several vendors and suppliers are so committed to this trade show that they participate every year. They sacrifice part of their sales and marketing staff to be present at the trade show to expose this industry to their products and services. When exhibitors purchase their booth space, they are effectively underwriting a portion of the education expense to allow the event to retain its low registration fees. We value their input and recommendations to further improve, modify and enhance the trade show. We respect our vendor community and continue to work with them in presenting the best quality trade show to the industry at a reasonable and fair value to them to encourage their participation at future Expos.
Expo Attendees - Finally, we want to thank those companies, builders, contractors, workforce development agencies, and college campuses who attended and have sent their workforce, staffing, and students to the Expos – your commitment to safety and construction management as a priority in your organization helps us achieve our mission – a safer and more productive workforce.
